WV Walks: 30+ Minutes Daily

Physicians' Press Conference

Dr. Shanthi Manivannan writes out a prescription to an interested WV Walks participant. On Tuesday April 5th, WV Walks announced mid-campaign results at Ruby Memorial Hospital and announced that local physicians will now be writing prescriptions for walking to their patients.

West Virginians are leading the way in national rates of obesity, sedentary lifestyles, heart disease, and high blood pressure. Area doctors agree that it is time to make sure their patients and others know that walking is the best medicine. Walking is the easiest, simplest, and most effective way to help maintain a healthy way of life.

Physicians are getting involved by taking time out to write out prescriptions for their patients who may suffer from heart disease, high blood pressure or those who may have a sedentary lifestyle. These prescriptions are just as effective as any other medication. So set up an appointment today to go walking!
