WHY DO YOU WALK?
I walk to stay healthy, because it is enjoyable, and it gives me time to think.
When I walk with a neighbor or my husband, it gives us time to talk. I also walk
to keep my cholesterol down.
WHY DO YOU LOVE WALKING?
I love walking because it is relaxing both physically and mentally. It is good
exercise but is less stressful than working out on exercise machines.
WHAT IS YOUR TOUGHEST OBSTACLE TO WALKING?
The biggest obstacle for me is getting started. After working all day, it is
difficult finding the time and the energy to walk.
WHAT IS YOUR BEST ADVICE FOR NEW WALKERS?
New walkers should start slowly. Don’t walk too fast or for too long. Build
slowly and be consistent.
WHAT IS THE COOLEST BENEFIT TO WALKING?
I really enjoy walking outside and observing nature. On my walks I have seen
deer and rabbits. In the fall I enjoy the changing leaves.
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST SURPRISE ABOUT WALKING?
The biggest surprise for me is that walking gives me more energy, even when I am
tired.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
I encourage people to walk. It is good for you and it feels good. I especially
enjoy walking outdoors even when the weather is inclement. Walking clears my
mind and makes me feel better mentally.
