Greg is a WVU Professor of History of Science. He grew up in Latrobe,
Pennsylvania and has lived in Morgantown for 22 years.
WHY DO YOU WALK?
I walk to get where I am going and for pleasure. I have chosen my house based on
its proximity to my office so that I can walk to work.
WHY DO YOU LOVE WALKING?
I love walking primarily because it feels good to walk. Also, walking connects
me to nature. Walking is the closest to meditation of any form of
transportation.
WHAT IS YOUR TOUGHEST OBSTACLE TO WALKING?
The way Morgantown is laid out makes it difficult to walk. There is a lack of
sidewalks where I want to go.
WHAT IS YOUR BEST ADVICE FOR NEW WALKERS?
I recommend that you find someone to walk with and start with modest goals.
WHAT IS THE COOLEST BENEFIT OF WALKING?
The thing I like best about walking is that I can be outdoors enjoying my
natural surroundings.
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST SURPRISE ABOUT WALKING?
Because walking is so enjoyable, I am surprised that more people don't do it.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
We all need to insist that more sidewalks and better crosswalks be built in
Morgantown.
